Security During 2005 there were a small number of terrorist incidents in Cairo and a larger incident further afield in Sharm el Sheik. These incidents are isolated and the Egyptian authorities emphasise that Egypt remains a safe place to visit. However we believe it always pays to be vigilant and your safety and security is our prime consideration. We travel only in small groups in local unmarked vehicles rather than easily identified ‘tourist’ buses. Although we do visit major tourist sites we try to schedule these visits at less busy times for your own comfort and enjoyment. The Egyptian people are friendly and hospitable and the risk of being caught up in any such incidents is rare. Please see your local Foreign Office website for further travel advice.
